Question
How to see what customers search for in Shopify
Look beyond total search volume. The useful question is which terms shoppers use, which terms return weak or no results, and which searches fail to become products added to cart or purchased.
Why Shopify does not show this clearly
Standard Shopify reports focus mostly on sessions, sales, and completed purchases. Search behavior can be separated from product-level cart and checkout outcomes, so it is hard to see which terms create missed revenue.
Why this is useful
Search gaps show the words shoppers actually use. They can reveal missing tags, unclear product names, synonym problems, collection gaps, and products customers expected to find.
What Cartalyst shows
Cartalyst highlights zero-result searches and search demand alongside cart and purchase behavior so you can decide whether to rename products, add synonyms, build collections, or stock missing items.
